Home Protection Insurance Policy

This Policy Provide coverage if the Property Insured or any part thereof accidentally and physically lost, destroyed or damaged during the period of the coverage as mentioned in the policy, either by paying the value of the property at the time of the happening of its loss or destruction or the amount of such damage or to reinstate or replace such property or any part thereof.

The Policy is divided into several section to insure a comprehensive coverage for all of the insured property and as follows:

SECTION 1 - BUILDING

This section covers the structure of the house including fixtures and fittings, together with garages and outbuildings. There is limited cover for boundary walls, gates, paths, drives and swimming pools. In general, anything that would be left behind if the occupier moved is included in the building insurance.

Perils Covered

This Policy cover any loss of or damage to the Residence caused by:

  1. Fire : Fire, Explosion, Lightning or Earthquake.
  2. Storm: Storm, Flood or Tempest.
  3. Subsidence: Subsidence or Landslip of the site on which the Residence stands.
  4. Escape of Water/Oil from tanks or fixed pipes.
  5. Theft: Theft including attempted theft.
  6. Impact: Impact by aircraft, aerial devices or articles dropped from them, vehicles, trains, animals, falling
  7. trees or branches.
  8. Aerials: Breakage or collapse of television or radio aerials, aerial fittings or masts.

Optional Coverage Under Section 1:

  1. Fixed Glass and Sanitary Fixtures
  2. Rent and Accommodation Expenses

Exclusions

Some of the exclusion applicable to section one are mentioned below for knowledge but not limited to:

  1. Loss or damage arising due to perils Escape of Water, Escape of Oil and Theft when the Residence has been left unoccupied for a period of more than 30 consecutive days.
  2. Loss of or damage to gates and fences due to peril Storm.
  3. Loss or damage whilst the Residence is in course of construction

SECTION II - CONTENTS ( Household Goods )

This Section applies to household goods and personal effects belonging to the Insured or to members of his household permanently residing with him (or for which he is or they are responsible)

Perils Covered

This Policy cover any loss of or damage to the Contents whilst in the Residence caused by:

  1. Fire : Fire, Explosion, Lightning or Earthquake.
  2. Storm: Storm, Flood or Tempest.
  3. Subsidence: Subsidence or Landslip of the site on which the Residence stands.
  4. Escape of Water/Oil from tanks or fixed pipes.
  5. Theft: Theft including attempted theft.
  6. Impact: Impact by aircraft, aerial devices or articles dropped from them, vehicles, trains, animals, falling trees or branches.
  7. Aerials: Breakage or collapse of television or radio aerials, aerial fittings or masts.

Optional Coverage Under Section II:

  1. Mirrors and Glass
  2. Electrical & Electronic Appliances
  3. Personal Belongings
  4. Personal Money
  5. Temporary Removal of Contents
  6. Contents in the Garden
  7. Food in a Freezer and/or Refrigerator

Exclusions

Some of the exclusion applicable to section two are mentioned below for knowledge but not limited to:

  1. Loss or damage arising due to perils Escape of Water, Escape of Oil and Theft when the Residence has been left unoccupied for a period of more than 30 consecutive days.
  2. deeds, bonds, securities, documents of any kind unless noted specifically by the Company
  3. goods used for business or professional purposes
  4. Loss or damage under peril Theft Not involving forcible and violent entry to or exit from the Residence.
  5. Loss or damage under peril Impact by domestic pets.

SECTION III - LIABILITY AND ACCIDENT

This Section cover the Insured and members of the Insured’s household permanently residing with the Insured against their liability for damages (including, where applicable, interest payable) and claimant’s costs and expenses in respect of bodily injury to third party person or loss of or damage to third party property caused by accident during the period of insurance and, in addition, defense costs and expenses incurred with the Company’s written consent occurring during period of insurance within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Perils Covered

This section provide needed coverage in the following circumstances:

  1. Property Owner’s Liability

    The Company will pay for the Insured’s legal liability as the owner of the Residence for damages and claimant’s costs and expenses in respect of Accidents resulting in bodily injury to / disease, or Loss of / damage to property of a third party

  2. Liability as Tenant

    The Company will provide cover up to a maximum of 20% of the sum insured under Section II, if the Insured is legally liable as a tenant for:

    1. Damage to the Residence, garages and outbuildings, landlord’s fixtures and fittings and boundary walls (excluding gates and fences), driveways, footpaths, terraces, patios, swimming pools caused by the perils defined in Section II.
    2. Accidental breakage of fixed glass forming part of the Residence, its structure and sanitary fixtures;
    3. The cost of repairing accidental damage to:
      1. septic tanks and drain inspection covers at the Residence,
      2. Any underground pipe or cable extending from the Residence to the public mains.

  3. PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVER FOR DOMESTIC SERVICE

    The Company will provide cover for the Insured’s liability as an employer to pay an insured person, named in the Schedule, who is in the Insured’s personal domestic service within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for each servant in the event of death or permanent or temporary disablement.

Exclusions

Some of the exclusion applicable to section Three are mentioned below for knowledge but not limited to:

  1. Liability arising directly through or in connection with any mechanically propelled vehicle, watercraft or aircraft;
  2. Liability arising from any willful or malicious act
  3. Liability arising from Hazardous sports
  4. Liability arising from Illegal acts

General Exclusions

Some of the exclusion which apply to the whole Policy are mentioned below for knowledge but not limited to:

  1. Riot or malicious acts or civil commotion
  2. Terrorism and sabotage
  3. War or warlike operations
  4. The destruction of property by order of any public authority
  5. Pollution or contamination
  6. Any willful or malicious act by the Insured or any member of his household
  7. Water leakage from a defective roof or pipe.
  8. The radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous or contaminating properties of any radioactive matter

WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A CLAIM

In case of the occurrence of any loss or damage a notice of such occurrence should be given to the Company, within 15 days after the loss or damage

For Property Damage relating to Building and/or Content:

A claim in writing should be provided to the company for the loss and damage containing details of all the articles or items of property damaged or destroyed, and of the amount of the loss or damage thereto respectively,

based on their value at the time of the loss or damage›, not including profit of any kind.

For Liability Claims:

The Insured shall give written notice to the Company of any accident or loss or claim or proceedings immediately the same shall have come to the knowledge of the Insured or his representative
